Radar Final Control

The Radar Final Controller performs precision and nonprecision approaches using two different type of radar displays. For precision approaches the controller uses radar that displays both glidepath and centerline which allows him/her to guide the airplane down through repetitive trend calls and headings that will establish the airplane on the optimum descent angle and course. Annually, there are 8,000 approaches conducted by Radar Final Controllers.
